What you’ll need for this recipe:

Flour– we use all-purpose flour in this recipe, bread flour will work great as well.

Dry yeast– to activate the dough.

Granulated sugar– granulated sugar is the best sugar to use for this recipe.

Garlic– we used freshly grated garlic and added it to the dough, it gives the dough a delicious garlicky flavor.

Kosher salt– we like to use kosher salt for this recipe.

Olive oil– we use olive oil for this recipe, you can use vegetable oil or canola oil.

Milk– liquid activates the yeast. For the softest dinner rolls, use whole milk. Milk gives the dinner rolls amazing flavor and texture.

Water– liquid activates the yeast. For the softest dinner rolls, we used a combination of milk and water.

Mozzarella– we stuffed the garlic rolls with grated mozzarella. Any type of your favorite melty cheese will work for this recipe, like cheddar cheese, white cheddar, gouda, fontina, gruyere, etc.

To make the egg wash mixture:

Egg– whisk the eggs.

Melted butter– to add a delicious flavor and softness.

Fresh garlic– to add a delicious garlicky flavor.

Parsley– chop fresh parsley and add to the mixture.

1.   In a mixing bowl add the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt and mix well.

2.  Add the olive oil, water, milk, and garlic.

3.  Start mixing at low speed for 2 minutes until the dough comes together, then, increase the speed for another 8 minutes until a ball of dough is formed.

4.  Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover until doubled in size.

5.  Remove the towel and roll the dough.

6.  Cut into 14 even pieces.

7.  Roll each piece into a ball (see video)

8.  roll each ball and place 2 tbsp of grated mozzarella on top of the dough. Then, roll it into a ball. Place the balls in a greased baking pan.

9.  Cover the balls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for 30 minutes in a warm place. Preheat oven to 180c (350f).

10.  Make the egg wash mixture: In a small mixing bowl mix together egg, butter, garlic, and parsley.

11.  Brush the dough balls with the egg wash mixture and bake in a preheated oven (180c / 350f) until they are golden brown.

12.  serve warm next to a marinara sauce, next to a shakshuka, or by itself.
