This classic moist and tender butter cake is quick and simple to make, bursting with buttery flavor, and is perfect for snacking.

In a large mixing bowl add the room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.

And mix with an electric hand mixer until smooth and creamy for about 3 minutes.

Add the eggs and mix until smooth and well combined.

Add the sour cream and mix until well combined.

Add ½ of the buttermilk, ½ of the flour, and baking powder, and baking soda, and mix it until almost combined.

Add the other half of the flour and buttermilk and mix until just combined.

Bake in a 180c (350f) oven for about 45-50 minutes (depending on the oven).

Allow the cake to cool to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
