Equipment

  • Ice cube tray
  • Ziplock bags
  • Freezer friednly container

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Almond milk you can freeze as much as youd like.

Instructions

Freeze almond milk in a cube tray

  • Take an ice cube tray and pour the almond milk into the ice cube trays, not filling it all the way through, about ¾ full.
  • Place the ice cube trays in the freezer. Almond milk takes a few hours to freeze completely. We usually keep it in the freezer overnight to prevent a mess.
  • Remove the ice cube trays from the freezer and release the almond milk cubes from the ice cube trays.
  • Transfer the almond milk ice cubes to a freezer-friendly ziplock bag or an airtight freezer-friendly container. Squeeze out as much air as you can to save space in the fridge.
  • Label the ziplock bag or the container if needed and freeze for up to 2 months.

Freeze almond milk in a container

  • Prepare an airtight freezer-friendly container and pour the almond milk into the container, filling it not all the way through. Almond milk contains mostly water, and water expands in the freezer, so you will need to leave some space in the container.
  • Close the container tightly and make sure that it is well sealed. Only an airtight container will work for this. It prevents the almond milk from absorbing odors from surrounding foods which can lead to the milk spoiling faster.
  • Label the container if needed (with the title almond milk and the quantity) and place the container in the freezer for up to 2 months.

How to thaw almond milk

  • Almond milk can be thawed in the fridge by placing it in the fridge overnight.

In lukewarm water

  • The second way to thaw almond milk is to pour some lukewarm water into a bowl and place the frozen almond milk (in a container or a ziplock bag) to speed out the thawing process. This can take 2-3 hours to thaw.
  • Notice that you don't use hot water or warm water. Only lukewarm water will work for this.

On stovetop

  • The third way to defrost almond milk is also the fastest way, is to release the almond milk from the container or from the ice cube trays, and warm it up in a small saucepan oven with medium heat.
  • Some people like this method the best because you can also thicken the almond milk and make it more creamy by cooking it for longer.

Notes

After you defrost the almond milk, make sure that you give it a quick blend in a blender or in a food processor to fix its texture.
To fix separated thawed almond milk you will need to simply blend the almond milk in a blender for about 30 seconds until the texture of the milk is fixed. If you don't have a blender, you can use a food processor as well.
