If you like making drinks at home, you should make our sweet cream cold foam, dalgona whipped coffee, french hot chocolate, and our hot chocolate with cocoa powder.

    Why this recipe works

    • Takes only 5 minutes to make!
    • Can be made everywhere!
    • Fun to make on a sunny summery day!
    • Extra refreshing!

    What is dragon drink?

The dragon drink is a popular iced drink at Starbucks made with coconut milk, mango juice, and dried dragon fruit. This drink used to be on the secret menu at Starbucks, but people liked it so much that it's not permanently on the menu!

    Ingredients

Before you start to make this recipe, measure and prepare your ingredients so the cooking process will go smoothly and easily.

Coconut milk- coconut milk makes this drink creamy and delish. Both sweetened and unsweetened coconut milk will work for this recipe. You can use canned coconut milk, but we rather using the coconut milk beverage so the drink doesn't have white lumps in it.

Dried dragon fruit powder- you will need dried dragon fruit for this drink. You can find this at local stores or buy it from amazon. Here's a link for the one we used. Dragon fruit is known as pitaya as well, so when you are searching for the powder, search both pitaya, and dragon fruit.

Apple juice- we used light-colored apple juice so it won't affect the color of the drink. If you can find apple juice or don't like apples, you can use white grape juice as well.

Mango juice- use your favorite brand of mango juice. Fresh mango juice will work too as well!

Simple syrup- we make simple syrup homemade. You can also use store-bought. Making simple syrup is super easy. You will need water and sugar and a 1:1 ratio of the water and sugar. Read on to learn how to make it.

For a healthier sweetener alternative, you can use stevia or coconut sugar.

Ice- we blend the drink with ice and serve it with the ice. This is an iced drink so use the ice that you have available.

Green coffee extract- some people like to add this green coffee extract for the caffeine. We personally don't add it to our drink but if you do, add ½ teaspoon of the extract.

    Equipment

There are so many ways to blend this drink. Here are our favorite tools to make this:

    • In a blender- This blender is our favorite and we use it to make so many drinks, smoothies, and foods! All you will need to do is add all your ingredients into the blender and mix until the mixture is creamy! Add ice to glasses and pour!
    • In a cocktail shaker- This is how they make this drink at Starbucks. Add all the ingredients to the cocktail shaker, and shake for 30 seconds so all the ingredients melt together and are well combined.

    Instructions

Step 1: Into a cocktail shaker, add the ice, coconut milk, simple syrup, dried dragon fruit powder, apple juice (or white grape juice), mango juice, and green coffee extract (if you are using it), and mix for 30 seconds!

Step 2: Carefully pour the drink into 2 glasses and top them with more dragon fruit powder or dragon fruit chips for presentation. Enjoy!

How to make a homemade simple syrup:

To make homemade simple syrup, add sugar and water into a saucepan and mix over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves.

Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, remove from heat, and store in a jar.

    How to store this drink?

If you make this drink and would like to store it, I suggest straining the drink mixture to prevent the ice from melting and ruining the texture of the drink. Store this drink in an airtight container or in a jar for up to 4 days.

How to order this drink at Starbucks?

This drink actually used to be on the secret menu at Starbucks, but people liked it so much that it's not permanently on the menu! Simply ask for the dragon drink at Starbucks or for the mango dragon fruit refresher with coconut milk instead of water.

What does this drink taste like?

This drink is extra refreshing. It's sweet but not too sweet, it tastes like a tropical drink that has a slight creaminess to it. Our favorite thing about this recipe is that you can use anything you want as your sweetener and control the sweetness of this drink.

    Expert tips

    • Make sure that the apple juice that you are using is light in color so it won't affect the color of the drink.
    • You can easily make this a Starbucks mango dragonfruit refresher by replacing the coconut milk with water.
    • Adjust the sweetness of this drink by gradually adding your sweetener until you get a perfect balance.
    • Shake this (or mix) drink for at least 30 seconds to make sure that the dragon powder and coffee extract dissolve completely.
    • If you have a coconut allergy, feel free to replace it with any milk or creamer that you like!

    Tools

    • Cocktail shaker
    • Mixing bowls
    • Dragon fruit powder
    • Measuring cups

    Freezing

If you would like to freeze this drink, there are two ways that you can do so:

    • Make popsicles! If you have some leftover drinks left, make popsicles! Pour this mixture into popsicle molds and freeze! These are so fun and refreshing.
    • Save for later- drain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve and transfer the mixture to a freezer-friendly airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge overnight.

    More drink recipes:

Sweet cream cold brew- This sweet cream cold foam Starbucks copycat recipe is easier than you think and uses simple ingredients.

Dalgona whipped coffee- Dalgona coffee or whipped coffee is the drink that went crazy viral around the internet in the last few months.

French hot chocolate- This french hot chocolate is easy to make, silky, and rich in chocolate flavor. You will only need 10 minutes to make this Parisian-style hot chocolate and a few simple ingredients.

Hot chocolate with cocoa powder- This hot chocolate is the best hot chocolate that I ever had. Our hot chocolate is made with milk, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, vanilla extract, and sugar.
