Ingredients
Before you start to make this white pizza recipe, measure and prepare your ingredients so the cooking process will go smoothly and easily.
Flour- we use all-purpose flour for this recipe. Bread flour will work well.
Yeast- we used instant yeast for this recipe. make sure that your yeast isn’t expired. Instant yeast doesn't require the activation step, you can mix it into the dough right away.
That's why we love using instant yeast. If you don't have instant yeast, replace it with the yeast that you do have and activate it if needed.
Vegetable oil – we used vegetable oil for this recipe. canola oil will work great for this recipe.
Vinegar- this ingredient makes that pizza dough extra soft and fluffy.
Granulated sugar– we like to use granulated sugar, also the most common sugar used in baking. Caster sugar will work great as well.
Salt– We used kosher salt for this recipe. we love using kosher salt in baking because it's super easy to measure, and we like that the grains of the salt are small in size.
Butter- use unsalted butter for this recipe. Only butter will work for this recipe, no margarine, and no coconut oil. Margarine has a weird taste and can ruin the flavor of this tasty pizza.
Garlic- you will need about 2 garlic cloves for this recipe. we use fresh garlic and grate it by hand. We do not recommend using store-bought pre-grated garlic, because it usually has less flavor.
Mozarella- we used store-bought grated mozzarella cheese, but you can use fresh mozzarella cheese, or grate it yourself.
Seasoning- we used simple seasoning for this recipe, we used chili flakes and dried basil. You can add any of your favorite Italian pizza seasoning like dried oregano, dried parsley, rosemary, sage, etc.
Instructions
In a mixing bowl of a stand mixer, add the flour, granulated sugar, kosher salt, and yeast, and mix on low until combined.
Add the olive oil, water, and vinegar, and mix for about 10 minutes until you get a soft and stretchy dough.
Grease a big bowl with oil, and transfer the dough to the bowl. Cover the dough with a towel or a plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for at least an hour or until it's doubled in size.
Punch down the risen dough and transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 2-3 parts (depending on the size you want) and roll them into balls.
Cover the dough balls with a towel to prevent them from drying out and let them rest for 15 minutes.
Make the garlic topping: In a small saucepan, add the butter, and the grated garlic, and simmer over medium-low heat until the butter is melted and the garlic is cooked. (careful, garlic burns very easily) Set aside to cool while prepping the dough.
Onto a clean floured surface, roll each dough ball at a time, and transfer the dough disk to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Brush the dough disk with the garlic and butter mixture generously, and top it with plenty of mozzarella cheese.
Bake in a 250c (482f) preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the dough is golden brown and crispy.
Top the pizza with chili flakes and dried or fresh basil (or any of your favorite Italian seasoning), and serve!
Expert Tips
- Make sure that your yeast isn't expired. You can check if your yeast is expired by mixing a teaspoon of dry yeast with ¼ cup of room temperature water, waiting 10 minutes, and if the yeast has bubbles in it and it puffed a bit, your yeast is alive and good, if there are no bubbles in your yeast mixture, your yeast is probably expired.
- Be patient! Let the dough rise at least until it doubles its size.
- Use bread flour! We like to use either all-purpose flour or bread flour for making bread. Bread flour contains more gluten, which makes the dough more stretchy and easy to work with.
- Mesure you flour correctly! When measuring your flour, avoid scooping it with a measuring cup. Instead, stir the flour with a spoon to create as many air pockets as possible, and spoon it into your measuring cup. Finally, level it with a back of a knife.
- When rolling the dough balls, be generous with the flour because the dough is pretty sticky.
- Make sure that your ingredients are fresh! Make sure that your flour and yeast are fresh and not expired. This step ensures that you will have great dough to work with.
- Bake the pizza on a pizza stone or on the lowest oven rack for a crispy crust.

This pizza will last for about 4 days stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
Freezing
After baking the pizza, let it cool completely, place it in a freezer-friendly airtight container like a ziplock bag, and freeze the slices for up to 3 months.
We love freezing pizza for days when you dont have time or energy to make dinner. You need to remove the pizza from the fridge and reheat it in the oven or in the toaster oven.
When ready to use, defrost at room temperature for 30 minutes and reheat in a toaster oven for 2-3 minutes.
Substitutions
Egg- if you want to make this recipe eggless, replace the eggs that are in the dough with water. Replace the egg wash with milk or heavy cream.
Dairy-free- you can make this dairy-free by replacing the butter with vegan butter and replacing the mozzarella with vegan mozzarella.
Sugar- you can substitute the sugar with honey. Replace the ¼ cup of sugar with ¼ cup of honey.
Whole wheat- To make this with wholewheat flour, replace ½ of the flour with wholewheat flour. We suggest not making this pizza with %100 wholewheat flour, because they will turn out dense and not fluffy.
Make it ahead of time
You can make the dough the night before, then place the dough in the fridge overnight. before baking, take the dough out of the refrigerator for 30 minutes, then, follow the rest of the steps.
